Tina Turner Warned About Kidney Health Two Months Before Death

Tina Turner Remembered by Celebrities Following Her Death at 83

Just two months before her passing in May 2023, legendary singer Tina Turner took to social media to share a sobering message about her declining health. In a post marking World Kidney Day, the 83-year-old icon revealed that she had struggled with kidney disease caused by long-untreated high blood pressure.

Turner admitted that for many years, she had ignored the warning signs. “My kidneys were victims of my not taking my hypertension seriously,” she wrote. “I have put myself in great danger by refusing to face the reality that I need daily, lifelong therapy with medication.”

Tina Turner’s health issues were not new to her fans. In previous interviews, she had shared her journey through a stroke, intestinal cancer, and a kidney transplant in 2017 — a kidney graciously donated by her husband, Erwin Bach.

However, the March 2023 post struck a different tone — it was almost a farewell. Though she didn’t directly mention her deteriorating condition, many fans later viewed it as a subtle final warning.

Turner passed away peacefully at her home in Switzerland on May 24, 2023, leaving behind an incredible musical legacy and a cautionary tale about the dangers of neglecting one’s health, especially kidney disease — often called a “silent killer.”

Her message continues to inspire millions to take control of their health and listen to their bodies before it’s too late.
