What should have been a day of celebration quickly turned into devastation for Pat Green, the beloved Texas country singer. On the night of July 4th, his younger brother John Burgess Green, along with John’s wife Julia and their two children, were swept away during a sudden flash flood in Kerr County, part of the Texas Hill Country.
John’s body was recovered shortly after, but Julia and the children remain missing, despite ongoing search efforts. In a heartbreaking Instagram post, Pat and his wife Kori Green expressed their grief and asked for privacy and prayers.
This wasn’t just any flood—it’s now being called the deadliest flood to hit Texas in nearly a century, with over 20 inches of rain falling in less than 48 hours and rivers rising more than 26 feet. By July 8, the death toll had surpassed 109, with Kerr County alone accounting for over 87 of those lives.
In the wake of the news, fellow Texas artists and fans rushed to offer their support. Acts like Randy Rogers Band, Josh Abbott Band, and even Miranda Lambert publicly shared condolences. Pat Green, understandably, canceled his tour appearances and has since focused solely on helping his family and authorities with the search.
This story is not just a personal tragedy—it’s a sobering reminder of nature’s fury and the shared human strength in times of profound sorrow.
