đ Country-pop superstar Shania Twain has stunned fans with a heartfelt revelation â she once considered leaving music altogether to devote her life to rescuing and rehabilitating wild horses in her native Canada. In a recent interview, the âMan! I Feel Like a Woman!â singer opened up about how a difficult period nearly led her to trade the stage for the stables.
đŹ âThere was a time I thought my music days were over,â Shania admitted. âI just wanted peace, open land, and animals that needed love. I thought maybe that was where my soul needed to go next.â
The confession came during an appearance on a Canadian talk show promoting her upcoming memoir project, where Twain discussed her long-standing love for horses and her deep connection to nature. Fans may already know that the singer owns property in Ontario and has frequently shared glimpses of her countryside life â but few realized just how close she came to giving up her chart-topping career for good.
According to Shania, the idea first came during a period of reflection following her divorce and Lyme disease diagnosis in the mid-2000s. âI had lost my voice and my confidence,â she said. âMusic had always been my world, but suddenly I wasnât sure I belonged in it anymore. Then I found comfort in being around animals â especially horses. They healed me in ways nothing else could.â
She described visiting wild horse sanctuaries and feeling inspired by the animalsâ resilience. âTheyâve been through storms and survived â thatâs something I related to deeply. I thought, maybe I could dedicate my life to helping them.â
At one point, Twain even began researching land and animal care programs in northern Ontario, telling close friends she wanted to open a âsafe place for wild and neglected horses.â But as fate would have it, her healing journey brought her back to her first love â music.
đŹ âThe horses gave me my voice back,â she explained. âThey reminded me what freedom feels like â and thatâs what music always meant to me, too.â
Her return to recording led to her triumphant comeback with the 2017 album Now, followed by a Las Vegas residency and global tours. But the dream of a wild horse rescue hasnât vanished â just evolved. Twain revealed that sheâs currently working on establishing a nonprofit initiative to fund animal rescue and therapy programs across Canada. âItâs still part of my future,â she said. âI donât want to leave music for it â I want them to live side by side.â
Fans online have flooded social media with admiration for the singerâs compassion and strength. One post read, âOnly Shania could think about saving wild horses instead of chasing fame â thatâs why we love her.â Another added, âSheâs the definition of heart, courage, and country soul.â
Even though she never walked away, the story reminds fans just how human Shania Twain truly is â an artist who found her way back to music by listening to the quiet rhythm of nature.
đŹ âWhen you help something wild find peace,â she said softly, âyou end up finding your own.â
