Country-pop icon Shania Twain is proving that sustainability can still be stylish. The “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!” singer has reportedly invested in a Canadian startup developing cowboy boots made from plant-based leather, calling the eco-friendly fashion line “sustainable and sexy.”
According to sources close to the project, the startup — Wild Soles — creates premium Western-style boots using innovative materials derived from pineapple fibers, cactus, and apple peels. Twain, a lifelong country fashion lover and animal advocate, said she was “instantly drawn” to the company’s mission.
“I grew up wearing cowboy boots — they’re part of who I am,” Twain shared in a recent statement. “But I’ve always dreamed of a version that doesn’t harm animals or the planet. These boots feel incredible, look amazing, and tell a story I believe in.”
The partnership reportedly began after Twain discovered Wild Soles at a sustainable fashion expo in Nashville earlier this year. She later met with the founders at their design studio in Toronto, where she tried on the first prototype — a sleek black boot dubbed “The Queen of Country.”
Wild Soles co-founder Lena Morneau described Twain’s involvement as more than financial: “She’s helping shape the creative direction. Shania brings an understanding of style that blends country roots with global appeal — exactly what we want our boots to represent.”
Each pair of Wild Soles boots is handcrafted using biodegradable materials, with zero animal products and recyclable soles. The startup says it aims to redefine what Western fashion looks like in a climate-conscious world.
Twain’s investment arrives amid a growing wave of celebrity-backed sustainable ventures — from Billie Eilish’s vegan sneakers to Stella McCartney’s mushroom leather handbags. But for Shania, this project hits especially close to home.
“Cowboy boots are more than fashion — they’re a symbol of strength, independence, and spirit,” she said. “Now they can also be a symbol of change.”
The company plans to launch its first retail line in early 2026, with limited-edition designs inspired by Twain’s tour wardrobe.
