In a rare and revealing interview, Diamond opened up about his four children: Marjorie, Elyn, Jesse, and Micah, and the complex relationships behind the curtain of fame.

Marjorie and Elyn are the daughters of Diamond’s first wife, Jaye Posner. Though not biologically his, he raised them as his own. “I didn’t father them, but I loved and cared for them as if I had,” he revealed.

Jesse and Micah are Diamond’s biological sons from his second marriage to TV producer Marcia Murphey. That marriage lasted nearly 25 years before ending in divorce—an event that deeply impacted his family ties.

“I wasn’t the best father,” Diamond admitted. “Sometimes I was so focused on music, I lost sight of what mattered most—my family.”

Now facing the challenges of Parkinson’s disease, Diamond says he is making a conscious effort to reconnect with all four children. “I don’t want to leave this world with things left unsaid between me and my kids,” he said with emotion.

The story of Neil Diamond’s family is a touching reflection on what it means to be a parent—not defined by biology, but by love, presence, and reconciliation.
