Despite their united front in public, sources close to the Marley family have revealed long-standing tensions surrounding the control, direction, and commercialization of Bob Marley’s global legacy.

At the heart of the conflict is a disagreement over how Bob Marley’s name, image, and music are being licensed for commercial use. Several family members – including Ziggy, Rohan, and Cedella Marley – have expressed different visions on how the brand should be managed moving forward, especially after the release of the “Bob Marley: One Love” biopic.

According to Jamaican entertainment outlet The Gleaner, there have been private legal negotiations and heated discussions over royalty divisions, merchandising rights, and decision-making authority within the family-led company, House of Marley.

“Some believe the message is being diluted,” said a source. “Others see it as an opportunity to expand Bob’s influence for the modern generation.”

While no public lawsuits have been filed, the subtle signs of discord became evident when some Marley siblings were notably absent from recent media appearances and tribute events.

Fans around the world are stunned to learn that behind the message of One Love, there’s a story of family divisions, creative disagreements, and questions of legacy control.
