He Knows His Time Is Near – But He Refuses to Stop

Engelbert Humperdinck - Arcada Theatre

At 88 years old, Engelbert Humperdinck is not slowing down—he’s speeding up. In a heartfelt interview with the Belfast Newsletter, the legendary crooner declared with quiet conviction: “I’m going to keep going until God calls me.”

This statement came not from a place of despair, but from unwavering purpose. After losing his beloved wife Patricia in 2021 to Alzheimer’s, Engelbert went through an emotional collapse—but music, once again, became his salvation.

Despite health concerns and the physical demands of touring, Engelbert insists on performing, recording, and connecting with fans worldwide. He continues to tour internationally, recently appearing in sold-out venues across Europe and the U.S.

“Every time I sing, I feel her with me,” he shared, referring to Patricia. “And as long as my voice holds out, I owe it to her—and to the fans who never gave up on me.”

His latest works, including live shows and recent recordings, reflect a softer, more introspective Engelbert, while still delivering the signature warmth and romance his fans have cherished for generations.

In an era when most of his peers have retired, Engelbert Humperdinck is still standing—not because he has to, but because he chooses to. And for millions, that choice means the world.
