Miranda Lambert Plans Benefit Concert to Support Flood-Ravaged Texas
Texas native Miranda Lambert is no stranger to heartache—but nothing hits harder than watching your own home state suffer. In the aftermath of the catastrophic July 4th flood that devastated the Texas Hill Country, Lambert is stepping up to help in the best way she knows how: with music.
The flood, which tore through communities in just hours, left unimaginable destruction. According to a July 13 report by USA Today, the death toll has climbed to 132. Among the victims were 27 campers and counselors from Camp Mystic, a summer retreat situated along the Guadalupe River. NBC News reports that the river surged up to 26 feet within minutes, catching many off guard.
Yet amid the chaos, stories of extraordinary courage have emerged. A Coast Guard rescue swimmer, Scott Ruskan, saved an incredible 165 lives. Another young man, Matthew Crowder, is being hailed as an “angel” after warning a family to flee their home just in time. Days later, when they met again, the family told him he had saved their lives.

One of the most heartbreaking stories is that of 61-year-old Jeff Ramsey, who called his family in a cabin just 150 yards from the river to warn them. His call woke them up and gave them time to escape. But Ramsey, staying in an Airstream trailer at HTR RV Park, didn’t make it out. Before the flood took him, he left his children emotional goodbye voicemails—final words full of love and courage.
In the face of such tragedy, country music artists have rallied to support Texas. Robert Earl Keen and George Strait, both proud Texans, have announced upcoming benefit concerts. Josh Weathers quickly organized a virtual benefit that raised over $430,000 for relief efforts.
Even more powerful, Chris and Morgane Stapleton donated $1 million through their Outlaw State of Kind fund to various local and national organizations—including Miranda Lambert’s own foundation, MuttNation.
Founded in 2009 by Miranda and her mother, Bev, MuttNation Foundation focuses on helping animals in crisis, especially during natural disasters. On July 5, Miranda shared that her team was working with Kerrville Pets Alive to identify needs and assist pets affected by the floods. She has continued to update fans on their progress via social media.
Then, on Monday (July 14), Lambert appeared on Highway Mornings with host Cody Alan on SiriusXM. During the call, she announced that she is currently planning a benefit concert to raise funds and bring hope to her fellow Texans.
It’s not just about music—it’s about healing, remembering, and standing together.
