Chris LeDoux on stage during one of the early festival years in Kaycee, Wyoming.
KAYCEE, WYOMING – One of country music’s most beloved and heartfelt traditions is preparing for its final bow. After 15 years of honoring the legacy of rodeo legend and country music icon Chris LeDoux, the annual Chris LeDoux Days festival is set to conclude with its final event this coming June 13–14, 2025.
The announcement has taken fans by surprise, many of whom have made the pilgrimage to Kaycee, Wyoming every year to celebrate the cowboy spirit, LeDoux’s music, and the tight-knit community that formed around both.
“We wanted to go out on a high note,” said the LeDoux family in an official statement. “It’s been a beautiful ride, and we’re deeply grateful for everyone who helped keep Chris’ memory alive through this festival.”
A Star-Studded Farewell Lineup
The final edition promises to be an unforgettable one. Headlining the farewell will be legendary country group Sawyer Brown, festival staple Kip Attaway, and of course, Ned LeDoux, Chris’ son and a rising star in his own right. Attendees can expect:
-
A high-energy musical lineup
-
A rodeo tribute
-
LeDoux memorabilia exhibitions
-
Special guest appearances by fellow artists and rodeo champions
Why It’s Ending – And Why Now?
While no single reason has been cited, sources close to the family suggest the decision is rooted in the desire to honor Chris’ legacy with dignity and closure, rather than let the tradition fade out. Hosting the event year after year requires tremendous effort, and the LeDoux family believes now is the right time to step back.
Still, fans are heartbroken. Social media has erupted with messages of gratitude, disbelief, and urgency to attend what’s being called “The Last Ride in Kaycee.”
Ned LeDoux’s Message to Fans
In a heartfelt video posted online, Ned LeDoux shared:
“This isn’t goodbye to the music or the memories — just the festival. We’re ending this chapter with love and respect for everyone who’s been a part of it. I hope y’all can come out and help us send it off properly.”
